Product name: Bodylastics STRONG MAN Stackable Resistance Bands Sets
Bodylastics premium quality resistance bands are considered to be amongst the most reliable product in their class because the company has been in business for many years and understands its customers’ increasing needs.
With Haloween and the clocks going back an hour in Europe recently, the days are fast becoming shorter and the weather harsher so there is less possibility to get out on the bike. I, therefore, like to take this opportunity to focus more on my general conditioning and using resistance bands forms an important part of my resistance training program.
The Bodylastics Strong Man Stackable Resistance Bands Sets are suitable for body building, functional fitness, postural correction, weight loss, rehabilitation and are great for training at home or when traveling.
This review will be based on my own personal experience of the 19pcs Strong Man set of bands. In this set you will receive 7 different bands ranging from the 3lb yellow to the 30lb orange band and also:
- 4 Heavy duty TPR covered handles
- 4 Heavy-duty ankle straps
- 2 Heavy duty door anchors
- 1 User book
- 1 Storage/travel bag
I have been using resistance bands for training clients for over 10 years and up until being introduced to the Bodylastics system by a colleague 3 years ago, I would have said that the main drawback to using bands is that they are limited mainly to isolation (hitting only one muscle group) type exercises. However, the versatility of the Bodylastics system provides a great all round training tool to use alongside bodyweight exercises to improve strength away from a gym environment.
Detachable handles are a game changer
Being able to remove the handles enables you to attach bands of different resistance easily and therefore increase the resistance gradually. There are 2 door anchors, but for me, the ankle straps are where the magic happens. Now did I mention that these are heavy duty straps? They can be fastened to any securely fixed object with up to a 4 inch/100mm diameter, which means you really can take these bands anywhere. The clips on the bands are strong but really light which makes these great to throw into your luggage if you are traveling and want to keep things ticking over whilst you’re on the road.
There are 6 different models in the product line, the “Mega” is the most comprehensive, followed by the “Strong Man XT Warrior” and next in line is the “Strong Man”. If you are new to using resistance bands don’t be put off by the “Strong Man “description, the higher tension bands will be of great benefit to you for exercises such as pull ups where they can be used to support your body weight if necessary. Another benefit of choosing a more comprehensive set is that you will get an extra set of handles and straps which will allow you to switch between exercises and be more efficient with your workout time.
- Comes with an exercise guide
- Value for money
- High quality
- Easy to transport
- Not cheap
- Other models have a better storage bag
- No, duplicate band sizes
Strength training, especially for the 40 plus endurance athlete, is a vital component to a holistic approach to improving performance and staying injury free. If you are looking for tube resistance bands this is the one product that sets itself apart from the competition. The Bodylastics resistance bands set is completely different to any other elastic bands you will find because they have a patented anti-snap design. The multi-layer anti-snap design, high-quality materials, and comfortable rubber handles make them hard to beat, in my opinion.
